Years ago, the tools and equipment people used were made with their own hands. Craftsmanship was very important. Today, these craftsman carry on that tradition.
Colonial Trading Co. is a small woodworking business located in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Brothers Jonathan and Andrew Myer operate the business, with some help from Jonathan's wife, Gwen.
The wooden buckets, butter churns, and apple crates are hand made by them. They buy all of their wood in rough, random widths. With the help of regular woodworking machinery, They turn this lumber into the wonderful buckets, butter churns, and crates. Each copper nail is personally hand-nailed by Jonathan Myer. Their items have been used by colonial era reenactors, and have even been used as props on the shows Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, and The Wild, Wild West Show.
